Dawson City, Yukon — where the placer mining school is taught.
The Klondike is not a backdrop. It is the reason the school is here: working placer ground, a living camp, and operating constraints you cannot fake in a lecture hall.
Dawson City sits at the heart of the Klondike placer district. Students spend ten days based in town, with field days on Dawson-area mine sites. The landscape, the water, the season length and the working mines are part of the curriculum.
Travel
Students are responsible for getting to Dawson City. Typical routing is through Whitehorse, then north to Dawson by air or road. Airfare is not included in tuition. Cohort dates and a practical travel window are confirmed with accepted applicants.
Lodging
Lodging is not included. Dawson is a small town with finite rooms, especially in summer. Accepted students receive guidance on timing so they can book early. Dinners and personal expenses are also the student’s responsibility. Lunches on program days are included.
Field transport
Transportation from the Dawson staging point to program mine sites is included. Site access follows host-mine rules, PPE requirements, and the day’s safety plan.
