A placer mine that cannot pass an inspection, keep a machine running, or close a disturbance is not a viable business. This module is about the unglamorous systems that keep a season legal, safe and mechanically alive.

Students build preventative maintenance discipline and complete a mock inspection: records, corrective actions, water and fuel handling, and closure responsibilities. The aim is a mine that can explain itself — to a regulator, an insurer, a partner, or a successor.

Field connection

On site, groups look at how records, housekeeping and water management either support production or quietly threaten it. Classroom checklists are tested against real layouts.
